Senator Liane Sorenson was a member of the Delaware General Assembly for 20 years: 2 years in the House of Representatives and 18 in the State Senate where she served as the Minority Whip. She is the former Director of the Office of Women’s Affairs and executive director of the Commission on the Status of Women at the University of Delaware. Liane is currently a board member of the Delaware Coalition Against Gun Violence and co-leader of a lecture series at UD’s Osher Academy of Lifelong Learning. Leadership at the national level included chair of the Women’s Caucus of the American Association of Higher Education (AAHE), president of the Women’s Network of the National Conference of State Legislatures, and board member of the Justice Center of the Council of State Governments. Liane holds a M.C. and B.S. from the University of Delaware.
